The headset has 8 sensors and a gap running straight down the middle of the head with no sensor at all. Odd numbered positions sit on the left, even on the right, and T7 and T8 are used for reference and bias rather than for recording data.
Foot movement lives directly under that gap. The motor control of the foot, leg and thigh sits on the medial part of the paracentral lobule, on the inner face of the hemisphere (Banker and Tadi, Neuroanatomy: Precentral Gyrus, StatPearls), and modern imaging describes the leg and foot component bridging the superior aspect of the gyrus and extending onto the medial surface (Hill et al. 2019). This is the body map that came out of the original cortical stimulation work of Penfield and Boldrey (1937), the study that produced the motor homunculus. So rightFoot is close to invisible here. The command is not hard for this headset, it is generated in the one location the sensor layout cannot reach.
tongue is nearly as bad, for the opposite reason. Face and head motor control occupies the far lateral regions of the strip, just superior to the lateral fissure (StatPearls, above), in the inferior segments of the motor cortex (Hill et al.). On this headset that region falls closest to T7 and T8, the two positions given over to reference and bias instead of data. That last step is my own reading of the sensor map against the anatomy. Those papers describe where tongue movement is represented in the cortex; they say nothing about EEG headsets, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.
I set up sessions with both commands before I worked out that neither was ever a fair test.
Try this instead: Check the command against where the sensors actually are before you spend a session on it. The command list the console offers you is not derived from what your headset can see.
